I never really wore any makeup growing up. My mother and my older sister never had any for me to play with! And I would much rather spend my money on food than on makeup :P It wasn't until I was participating in pageants and finding out that we had to do our own make up that I started freaking out! I was 21 years old and didn't even know how to put eyeliner on.​

With the help of one of my church friends, Michele Doan, I learned the basics of makeup. We went to the mall and bought everything I needed. From Benefit face powder to Chanel eyeliner, I was ready! I wasn't a pro, but I was able to do my makeup for my pageants without looking like a clown.

After my pageant days, I ended up doing makeup for my friends for their special occasions. I realized how fun it was and how much I truly enjoyed it. Then, I found makeup classes at April Love Pro Makeup Academy. It was never in my life plan to become a makeup artist. I just wanted to learn for myself; how to use color, how to shape my face, how do you contour, what is highlight, etc.

I ended up tying for first place in our fantasy photo shoot. I remember being shocked because I didn't think my work was as good as everyone else's, but we are our own worst critic, right? After finishing classes at ALPMA, I was able to work as a makeup artist on pageants and photo shoots. By doing these events, it helped me gain my confidence in makeup artistry.

This confidence led to C JOY BEAUTY. I have been able to do so much in the beauty industry from magazines, fashion shows and my favorite, bridal makeup. Never had I imagined to do so much as a makeup artist! I love every minute of it. From the stressful shows to the stressful brides, this is one of my happy places.
